Our Charity Work at Brompton Library
Every Friday, KnittingMind runs a free knitting session at Brompton Library — our way of giving back to the community. What started as a small idea has grown into one of the most loved parts of our week, bringing together around 20–30 people each session.
These lessons are open to everyone and completely free of charge. Many of our regulars are older adults who come to learn, socialise, and reconnect with a hobby that brings them joy. Over time, participants have learned to make socks, scarves, and hats — for themselves, their loved ones, and even for local charities.
The atmosphere is always warm and full of life. There’s laughter, chatter, and plenty of tea as everyone helps one another and shares tips. It’s incredible to see how much confidence grows from creating something by hand, and how friendships naturally form through the process.
The feedback we’ve received has been heartwarming — people tell us the sessions have helped them feel less lonely, more motivated, and part of something meaningful. For us at KnittingMind, this volunteering work is a way to use our skills for the greater good, showing how creativity and kindness can genuinely change lives.
